The Bible is clear about spiritual compatibility between marriage partners (2 Corinthians 6:14-18).
We believe marriage is the union between a biological man and a biological woman, as defined in Genesis 2:24. *
Chestnut Ridge Church will only perform and recognize marriages between a biological male and biological female. Further, our pastors and ministers shall only officiate weddings between one man and one woman. Finally, the facilities and property of Chestnut Ridge Church shall only host weddings between one man and one woman.
We ask that at least one of the people being married be a regular attendee of Chestnut Ridge Church. *

We prefer that the couple maintain a dating relationship for at least one year before their wedding date. *
Have you and your fiance been in a relationship for at least a year?
We require that the couple participate in our premarital mentoring ministry. *
As a part of this, you will be matched with a mentor couple and meet with them 6-8 times before your wedding date.
We ask that the couple abstain from sexual intimacy and living together prior to the wedding. *
Sex is a gift from God to be received in a marital union. The Bible gives us clear instructions for sex within the parameters of the marriage relationship. If living together, we also ask that the couple live apart until after the wedding ceremony. Understanding this is God's best for you and your marriage, we will ask you to abstain from sexual intimacy and living together.
We suggest at least one year of legal divorce or time after the death of a spouse before considering remarriage. *
Chestnut Ridge Church believes a new relationship should not be pursued until the potential for a healthy reconciliation has been exhausted and time for personal recovery has passed.
